At the headquarters of Udružene, a Sarajevo-based NGO, Rabija, Osmana, Merima, Hamida, and hundreds of other women gather, bound by both their craft and their shared past. Here, they knit for international fashion brands: some developing prototypes from a designer’s latest models, others collecting wool and orders, receiving wages, or simply finding solace in each other’s company. This workshop is more than a workplace; it is a refuge, a space of quiet resilience where the film begins.

But beyond the hum of activity, in their homes on the outskirts of Sarajevo, mere meters from what was once the front line, or in remote villages hidden in the mountains, they continue their work. With the steady rhythm of their needles, they push back against the memories of war that still haunt them. Yet, as stitches take form, so do their stories.

Month after month, words emerge from silence, revealing wounds, survival, and the weight of a past that never fully fades. Through their hands, their pain is woven into something tangible, something that moves beyond them: knitted pieces that, once finished, are sent out into the world, carrying with them the echoes of their history.
