For 30 years, from 1959 to 1989, a vast trade in human beings took place in Romania. Hundreds of thousands of Jews were exchanged for pigs, cattle, and sheep, before being sold to Europe and Israel.

The film reveals a hidden chapter of twentieth-century history, exposing one of the best-kept secrets of the Communist world.
It is only today that many families in Europe, the USA and Israel are discovering the real story of their migration. Sixty years after the fact, thanks to testimonies and historians’ contributions, the film will tell this intriguing story and trace the origins of this secret bargain.
