WAYANA, THE CHILDREN OF THE FORESTS
Running Time: 52'
/ Format: HD
/ Available versions: FR I EN
This movie depicts through some characters the link between Aboriginal people and the French Guyana forest, its importance inside their life, their organization and imagination. Nevertheless, the western way of life (school, society organization, consumption…) creates, along time, a new values system and accentuates the generational break inside this community. The film emphasizes the struggle for the culture, patrimony and identity conservation of these centenarians’ tribes. It highlights the beauty of the primary forest defended by the aboriginal communities, at a moment where climate emergency is serious and forest fires proliferate.
