Whereas the Lumière brothers and Georges Méliès created the cinema’s world, two other men, Charles Pathé and Léon Gaumont created the industry as we know it. These two witty entrepreneurs changed the cinema from an entertaining attraction in fairs into a mass medium. Despite rivalry and competition, the two visionnaires respected each other and became friends. Here is their story.
